This hot and dry time of the year is stressful for the females with young calves: the calves need milk, food is scarce, it's a long way to drinking water, there are groups of bull elephants around, it's crowded around the water hole and there are elephant hunting lions in the area.
To add to all the stress there are tourists in Land Cruisers - let's scare them off!
